The town of Talavera de la Reina became so internationally acclaimed for its ceramics that is was called “La Ciudad de la Cerámica” (City of the Ceramics). Its unique style came out of a mix of Spanish, Arabic and other European cultures. The artisans travelled to Mexico and introduced the techniques of potter’s wheel and tin-glazing to the local artists. Since then the techniques evolved appropriating the Mexican, rich design and Spanish craft. High industrial oven temperature bakes the paint and creates a natural lawyer of transparent glaze.
